Mission

Hummingbirds Nest Collaborative is a nonprofit bilingual Waldorf Inspired school emphasizing sensory integration and growth mindset to stimulate the imagination, develop fine and gross motor skills and executive function. We provide an exceptional educational experience that meets the needs of each child in a developmentally appropriate manner, integrating critical thinking, emotional intelligence and the arts based on the curriculum founded by Rudolf Steiner. The future of the world is in our classroom today.

Hummingbird’s Nest guides children through right speech with songs, poetry, and rich images in storytelling.  Storytelling strengthens memory and attention, stimulates imagination and builds the foundations of inner picturing for reading.  Circle time is another teaching tool in which the teacher and children interact with song, dance and healthy sensory integration movement.  These activities develop the child’s fine and gross motor skills as well as the brain executive functions in preparation for academics in the later years.

The Waldorf-inspired curriculum, which incorporates Spanish language from bilingual teachers in the Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms, provides a child the experience of security, safety, and strengthened self-confidence.  The curriculum brings joy and wonder through singing and fosters the child’s curiosity and love of learning.  The teacher and child work in collaboration to care for their environment through daily activity of cooking, sorting, and organizing.  Hummingbirds Nest provides a strong emphasis on nature-based exploration through gardening, seasonal festivities as well as outdoor and indoor play.
